Circle of fifths

You know pentatonic boxes, and major scales all over the neck. This is a little tip for you

Let say you want to play G Maj diatonic on 12 freth:

  • think about G Maj pentatonic
    g maj pentatonic
  • Go back in the circle, and you have a C maj pentatonic, only one note change (B->C)
    c maj pentatonic
  • And finally, go in the next position, you have a D maj pentatonic, only one note change (G->F#)
    d maj pentatonic
  • Now combine and sum G + D + C pentatonic schema and you have 5 + 1 + 1 notes = 7
    The G maj diatonic scale:
    g maj diatonic

I really loved reading this article. To be honest, I’m learning more about playing the guitar from your blog, then I’ve ever did from any training DVD set I’ve bought over the past few months. Hope it’s ok that I share this post on Digg?

Finally, I located the information I was looking for. I have been doing research on this subject, and for four days I keep finding web-sites that are supposed to have what I’m searching for, only to be disappointed with the lack of what I wanted. I wish I would have found your website sooner! I had about 25% of what I was looking for and your site has that, and the rest of what I need to complete my research. Thank you and keep up the good work!
