Circle of fifths

You know pentatonic boxes, and major scales all over the neck. This is a little tip for you

Let say you want to play G Maj diatonic on 12 freth:

  • think about G Maj pentatonic
    g maj pentatonic
  • Go back in the circle, and you have a C maj pentatonic, only one note change (B->C)
    c maj pentatonic
  • And finally, go in the next position, you have a D maj pentatonic, only one note change (G->F#)
    d maj pentatonic
  • Now combine and sum G + D + C pentatonic schema and you have 5 + 1 + 1 notes = 7
    The G maj diatonic scale:
    g maj diatonic
